Here at Extension we have several units of programming so we have a place for you. Here's a listing of the types of programs we run and the volunteers needed. Training by our Extension Educators is provided.

Agriculture...Over 120 volunteers are needed for Close Encounters with Agriculture, a 3-week program held in the early spring. People with interests in agriculture, animals, environmental issues, diet/nutrition/health are needed to work with 2,700 county 4th graders in teaching and non-teaching roles.
Master Gardeners...Do you have a green thumb? Our Master Gardeners connect local residents to horticultural expertise through a telephone hotline, a demonstration garden and a speakers' bureau. Extensive training takes place in February.
4-H....Youth have so many needs and challenges today. 4-H clubs and programs work to provide role-models, education and just plain fun! Volunteers serve as Click here for additional information about 4-H volunteer opportunities
Family and Community Educators...This unique nationally-based organization works at the grassroots level to strengthen families and individuals and foster community education on a variety of topics. Join a club in your neighborhood and touch the world. Visit their website for more information.
Senior Health Insurance Program...helps the elderly and their families by providing information and advocacy related to Medicare, Long-Term care and other health issues. Most important qualities are a listening ear and a commitment to upgrading your knowledge as new developments in the field come about. Contact Leta Blank for more information.
One other volunteer opportunity that is unique is to serve on the Extension Advisory Committee. Be someone who helps guide the programming of the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension into the 21st century by determining the needs of residents and groups in the county.
